Spectator FAQ’s

is this event free to watch?

Heck yes it is! This is a fundraiser so if you’d like to do a free will donation, there will be QR codes at each stage, or an ammo can you can throw cash or checks in!

where do i go?

Friday Evening Sniper Meet and Greet: 6pm at Rev-Tac Firearm Instruction (1545 Knox Blvd Jackson Ne) Come talk to the teams, get your pictures taken with them, sit around the fire and have a drink while you listen to all the stories! The boys have a big day in the AM so we will wrap this up around 9pm!

what should i bring?

If you have your own hearing protection please bring in! Binos are also a good idea! You can also bring snacks, waters and whatever else you think you’d need! Might want a backpack? Bring beer and a cooler you can carry yourself! You will get shuttled in Humvees to each main location’s Command Center where you may transfer into a side by side to go to the specific stages. The more stuff you bring the slower you make the process. Because you are on live-fire ranges you will not be allowed to walk by yourself from stage to stage- you will be in a Event Sanctioned Vehicle

are dogs allowed?

Not this year. Hauling them from spot to spot will be a pain on our volunteers and anyone else riding with you. If you are just staying at Verzani Farms, then yes.

is this a family-friendly event?

Heck yes! Your kids will have a blast and you can come and go from stages often as you want! Only want to check out a stage for a few minutes and move on to the next? Not a problem! Want to stay at a stage for the day? That’s awesome too!

who is chris horton?

Specialist Christopher D. Horton died in Paktia, Afghanistan on September 9, 2011, during a complex ambush. Specialist Horton was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 279 Infantry Regiment, 45th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, as a sniper.

His wife made a comment to me that she didn't know how to keep Chris's legacy alive since they never had kids to carry on his name. This bothered me for years, until in 2019 we put together the first sniper match in his honor. His wife flies in from DC to officiate the event and it's a great time to remember Chris, cross-load information between sniper teams and continue to keep our skills sharp.

Where are the proceedings going?

The proceeds from the competition go to our non-profit, Contact Front. Contact Front is a non-profit organization located in Jackson, NE. Dreamed of, start by, and lived out each day by a group of veterans who know what life is like outside of their military roles and responsibilities. They recognized the struggles and know that together there isn’t anything they can’t handle, one day at a time. Thanks in part to our generous donors and corporate sponsors we are able to complete our mission.

can i bring my own equipment to shoot the stages?

You must abide by all state and federal laws.

You will bring and transport all long guns and carbines in a case, unloaded. The stage judge will observe you removing your firearm from its case and immediately clear it.

Pistols are of course allowed to be carried in a holster per state and federal law but YOU WILL NOT HANDLE your pistol anywhere outside of the stage you are about to run without the guidance of our staff. For the safety of our spectators, volunteers and sniper teams, you will be removed from the event if you handle your firearm without specific instruction from our staff.
